How Image Resizing Works

Our image resizer uses the browser Canvas API to scale your images to any dimensions you need. Here is what happens when you resize:

  1. Upload your image. Select any JPEG, PNG, or WebP file from your device.
  2. Set your dimensions. Enter a specific width and height in pixels, or choose a percentage preset (25%, 50%, 75%, 150%, 200%) to scale proportionally.
  3. Lock aspect ratio. The aspect ratio lock is enabled by default. When locked, changing the width automatically recalculates the height and vice versa, preventing any stretching or distortion.
  4. Choose output format. Keep the original format or convert to JPEG, PNG, or WebP. For lossy formats (JPEG, WebP), adjust the quality slider to balance file size and visual quality.
  5. Download. Preview the result and download your resized image instantly.

All processing happens entirely in your browser. Your images are never uploaded to any server. They stay on your device throughout the entire process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does resizing reduce image quality?
Scaling an image down generally preserves visual quality well. Scaling up may introduce some softness because the tool has to generate new pixels. For the best results when enlarging, use the quality slider to maximize output quality.
What is aspect ratio lock?
Aspect ratio lock keeps the proportional relationship between width and height. When enabled, changing one dimension automatically adjusts the other so the image does not get stretched or squished. You can unlock it if you need non- proportional dimensions.
Can I resize images to a specific percentage?
Yes. Use the percentage presets (25%, 50%, 75%, 150%, 200%) or enter a custom percentage to scale the image proportionally. The pixel dimensions update automatically when you select a percentage.
Do you store or upload my images?
No. Your images never leave your device. All resizing is performed locally in your web browser using JavaScript. We do not upload, store, or have access to any of your images.
